Proud and Fat
I find certain aspects in McDonalds' and Taco Bell's respective ad campaigns a little unsettling. It's no secret that the fast food industry has been taking a lot of heat lately for making America fatter than any nation in history while millions around the world starve. Meanwhile, Taco Bell is pushing for a "fourth meal." Even more striking is McDonald's new billboards around Shreveport that feature a giant picture of a rather disheveled Big Mac and the catchphrase "Make Hunger History." Whoa.

I would say this is unbelievable. Except that it's not. And that's the scary part. Whoa indeed. That's America for you: let's spend lots of money on unhealthy food and slip more and more under the fog of the privileged fat, utterly oblivious about the world outside the self. Okay, maybe that's a little harsh.
